As I begin the 2009 season work on the farms, my first goal is to frost seed all of the existing food plot to make sure of an excellent crop this year.  I can’t help but anticipate what will be see or harvested over any one of the dozens of food plots we have on our farms.  I feel that frost seeding each year is vital to the food plots growth and establishment and can be preformed on any level to created a great food source.  Anyways, I’m just here to remind you guys that your chance to bow hunt monster whitetails in Illinois in 2009 is fading, so I just wanted to let you know what hunts we still have available.  Space is limited in each of the hunts listed so if any of them catch your eye, don’t hesitate to call or email me back any questions you have or if you are wanting to lock in that hunt.  I look forward to hearing back from you and seeing you in camp.

Bow Hunt Dates:

Arrive Sept 30th, hunt Oct 1-5, and depart on the 6th.  Hunt cost is $2550
Arrive Oct 26th, hunt Oct 27-31, and depart on Nov 1st. Hunt cost is $3650

Here at Harpole’s Heartland Lodge the 2009 season is in full swing.  With all of the economic issues that are surrounding us today, I am looking forward to getting back out into the whitetail woods and chasing monster bucks around.  To me, that is the ultimate stress reliever.  What better way to take all the pressure and pain that todays market is giving us and send it out the end of a hunting gun and wrap your hands around a giant set of whitetail horns. 

I just wanted to remind you that with the limited number of days that the Illinois DNR allow for firearm seasons, that your chance or opportunity to gun hunt monster whitetails in Illinois is fading fast.  Here at the lodge we only have a few remaining spots this year.  Below are the hunting dates and there prices, feel free to contact me if you have any questions or are ready to lock your spot in. 

Firearm Hunt

Arrive Dec 2, hunt Dec 3-6 and depart Dec 7.  Hunt cost is $3350 per hunter.  Only 3 spots remain.

Arrive Dec 10, hunt Dec 11-13 and depart Dec 12.  Hunt Cost is $2450 per hunter.  Only 2 spots left.

I hope this e-mail finds you doing well! I have been getting a lot of requests to do a European Driven Pheasant Shoot before our season ends.  I have set a date for February 28th, 2009 for a driven hunt. It will be open to anyone that would like to participate. This will be a morning shoot with lunch afterwards. An optional afternoon walk-up hunt will be offered to shoot escaped pheasants along with other birds that are in the fields.    

The price of this hunt is $575/gun for the 200 bird driven shoot.  This includes all birds, guides, dogs , game processing, lunch and refreshments.  

I need at least 8 hunters and will limit it to a total of 12 hunters. (A 12 person shoot would have 300 birds.) An afternoon walk up hunt would cost $230/gun. If you have any questions, please contact me. I look forward to seeing you on the 28th!  

 

 

 Information on our Predator Hunts

 

Predator Hunting Packages

 

Hunts take place January 25-March 25.  Dates are flexible within this date range.

 

Three nights, two and a half day package – Arrive the night before between 3:00p.m.-5:00p.m.  Hunt two and a half days and depart after lunch on your third day.

            Price $750 (Which include meals, lodging, and guide service)

 

Two nights, one and a half day package- Arrive the night before between 3:00p.m.-5:00p.m.  Hunt one and a half days and depart after lunch on your second day.

            Price $550 (Which include meals, lodging, and guide service)

 

Hunts are all fully guided one on one.

 

All hunts will use electronic calls, and or mouth calls.

 

All state and federal laws apply.

 

All hunters must have a hunting license and habitat stamp for the state of Illinois.

 

All hunting will be on private ground using archery equipment, any caliber of handgun, rifle, or shotgun (shotguns must have a plug).

 

Hunts may take place ½ before sunrise to ½ hour after sunset.

 

Rooms

 

All bookings are double occupancy, unless other arrangements are made.  Private rooms can be arranged if available.  All rooms in the main lodge have private baths.  As part of the care and maintenance inside our lodge, we ask that you bring slippers or wear socks.  Boots and shoes are removed in the mudroom.

 

Private rooms are available upon request for an additional fee. Non-hunting guests are welcome.  The rate is $100 for each night.

 

Enjoy one of our new luxury suites during your stay.  For only $100 per hunter (per night – based on double occupancy) you can stay in one of these incredible rooms.  Each spacious room has two king size beds, Jacuzzi, fireplace, gun holders, private decks and entrance.

Please call our office at 1-800-717-4868 or you can e-mail us at info@heartlandlodge.com.  Your confirmation letter will be sent when we receive your deposit.

 

Deposit Policy & Cancellation Policy

 

A payment of 50% of your total hunt is due upon booking of your reservation.

 

All balances must be paid by January 1^st of the year you are to arrive at Harpole’s Heartland Lodge.  A processing fee of 10% of your total booking will be charged when canceling. If you cancel after January 1^st, your entire deposit will be forfeited.  If someone in your original booking does not show, you will be charged the full amount of original amount booked.  These policies will help us provide you with better service.

 

If you cancel before January 1^st of year you are to arrive at Harpole’s Heartland Lodge, your deposit will be refunded less 10% of total hunt.  No refunds are given after January 1^st.

 

 

 

Transportation

 

Airport transportation is provided by “Hubs Transportation”.  St. Louis, Lambert airport, is the closest major airport.  For private planes, Quincy and Pittsfield airports are the closest.  For more information you can contact “Hubs” at 217-335-2128 or 800-201-0707. -All hunts are fully guided 1 on 1.  Guides will sit with you and call (Let your guide know if you would prefer to call).

-We hunt on approximately 4000 acres located in Pike and Calhoun Counties.

-Hunters will need an Illinois hunting license and habitat stamp.

Heartland Open All Year

 

Come to Heartland for a get-away.  This will give you the opportunity to check out the Lodge prior to booking a hunting trip.  We are open all year.

Now is the time to book that spring gobbler hunt with Heartland Lodge.  Our turkey hunts are some of the best hunts possible.  All of the hunts are fully guided, one on one with an experienced guide to help you bag that elusive tom.  Hunt cost is $1495 for a 3 night 3 day hunt, including meals, lodging, and guide service.      I just want to thank everyone that was a part of our whitetail season this year at Heartland Lodge.  The 2008 season turned out to be a great one.  We didn’t set or break any records but we created memories that will be forever told at the lodge. 

     Bill Hendrix is one that stands out in my mind.  Bill has hunted with us for 3 years now and has taken a great buck every year.  3 for 3, now if you talk to him he would claim it’s skill, talk to the guide and it’s all his stand placement.  Either way when Bill’s in camp all of the stars align and the deer gods are generous.  Another great story that took place this year happened to be bestowed upon Ed Sr., and Ed Jr.  These guys have been whitetail hunting with us since 2005, and have had the complete roller coaster ride of hunting.  No opportunities one year, knocked one completely of its feet the next year only to watch it get up and run off, and finally Ed Jr. was able to connect on a great buck this year with his father there to experience it.      

     These are just a few of the memorable hunts that took place at Heartland Lodge this past season, and hope that there will be many more in the future.  I look forward to seeing you in camp making your own memories.  Again, thank you for making Heartland Lodge what it is today, and enjoy every minute you are able to spend out in the woods.
